Yaxchilan ist weiterhin nur mit dem Boot zu erreichen, liegt in einer Krümmung des Grenzflusses Usumacinta und daher war wiedereinmal eine Bootsfahrt angesagt. Diesmal haben sich die Krokodile versteckt, war auch gut Betrieb am Fluß, da diese Ruinen in Schlagdistanz zu Palenque liegen und einige Tourigruppen auch hier herunter kutschiert werden.
Ansonsten sehr cooles Dschungelsetting, eine gut erhaltene Büste eines geköpften Gefangenen und sehr schön erhaltene Details wie Masken und Fresken in den Türstöcken.
Auch interessant: Da Grenzfluß, auch Flüchtlingsaufkommen und eigene Programme zur Unterstützung derer. Bei meiner Ankunft ist gerade ein Boot mit Hondurianern angekommen.

Yaxchilan is accessable only by boat, as it’s on the river Usumacinta which divides Mexico and Guatemala – so another boattrip for me. This time no crocs, maybe because of pretty heavy traffic on the river as it’s in a daytrip distance from Palenque – so some of the touristgroups make it over here.
Very cool jungle-setting, and quite a lot good kept details such as a decapitated prisoner, masks and frescoes in the entries of temples.
Also interesting: As this is a border there is refugees and obviously programs to support them. As I was taking off for the ruins there was just arriving a boat with hondurian people.
